Students who participate in the Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) Program during high school continue to receive the support of Philadelphia Futures. The overall objective of our College Retention Services is to increase the retention, persistence and graduation rate of SAS students through financial assistance, and by providing academic, career and personal counseling. The SAS College Program includes the following services:
- One-on-one guidance provided through ongoing e-mail and telephone exchanges, as well as meetings (no less than semi-annually) with the Philadelphia Futures Collegian Services staff to review academic performance, address challenges and opportunities in depth, discuss academic options, explore graduate school possibilities, and prepare and search for post-graduate jobs.
- The Collegian Website, www.pfcollegian.org, is designed to keep SAS Collegians up-to-date on all SAS activities and programming and to communicate opportunities for scholarships, internships and jobs.
- Partnerships and liaisons with colleges and universities to provide financial support services and to offer students critical on-campus resources such as tutoring and multi-cultural services.
- Financial assistance, including ongoing guidance from Philadelphia Futures regarding financial aid, the $6,000 sponsorship fund each student receives over the course of their college career, and matching funds for summer courses under the PATH Program.
- Philadelphia Dream Team offers special support and guidance to students attending colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area.
