
The Philadelphia Futures Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) Program recruits students who are motivated to achieve in school and who share the dream of receiving a college education. We work closely with designated neighborhood schools in the School District of Philadelphia and are most grateful for the support we receive from our partner teachers and counselors, who have nominated their promising and deserving students for participation in the SAS Program.

Student Eligibility
Teachers and counselors can nominate students at the end of eighth grade or the beginning of ninth grade. Nomination criteria include the students’ academic potential, school attendance and interest in college. Students must also meet income criteria and be capable of working with a supportive adult as a mentor. Cooperation from parents and guardians is required for students entering the program.

SAS students are recruited from Philadelphia’s comprehensive (neighborhood) public high schools. The SAS Program currently has a significant number of students from the following schools:

- Furness High School
- Germantown High School
- Lincoln High School
- Martin Luther King High School
- Motivation High School
- Overbrook High School
- Roxborough High School
- Strawberry Mansion High School
- University City High School
- William Penn High School
