A Message from Our Executive Director Regarding the Philadelphia Futures Office Closing

To the Philadelphia Futures community,

To ensure the safety of our students and our staff and in keeping with the guidance offered by the city and the CDC, the Philadelphia Futures physical office will be closed through April 6 or until the “stay at home” order is lifted. During this office closure, we have transitioned to a solely remote support model for all students and a 100% distance learning model for our high school after-school classes. All of our after-school clubs and other external events are cancelled or are being conducted remotely.

As key supporters of these young people, your care and encouragement are critical. This is a challenging time for everyone, especially our students and their families. We continue to be vigilant in our outreach to ensure that all Philadelphia Futures students feel supported during this difficult time.

Many stakeholders have asked what they can do to help our scholars during this time. We are grateful for your generous spirit.  Here are a few options to consider:

      a.  Technology: Some of our students are struggling with access to computers, given the shift to remote learning that many colleges and high schools are choosing. Please consider a donation of a new laptop for our students. Please contact Sara Woods (sarawoods@philadelphiafutures.org) for more information.

     b.  Gift Cards: Several of our students, without the benefit of school provided meals (high school and college), are struggling. Please consider a donation of a pre-paid Visa/MC gift card so that they may access healthy, fresh food. Gift cards should be sent to the Philadelphia Futures office: 230 S. Broad Street, 7th Floor, attn: Michael Johnson, Director of Finance and Administration.

 c.   Opportunity Fund: Please consider a contribution to our student Opportunity Fund.  These funds allow us to help with emergency expenses for students that, if not addressed, will prevent them from achieving their college dreams. Please note “Opportunity Fund” when making your contribution:  https://philadelphiafutures.org/contribute/

We are doing everything we can to ensure the continuity of services for our students. Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns;  our main number is 215-790-1666 and will be staffed throughout our transition to a virtual office. You can also contact me at sarawoods@philadelphiafutures.org or 215-790-1666 x 470.

Thank you for your commitment to our students and to Philadelphia Futures.
