A Night with Philadelphia Futures’ Scholars
The evening consisted of student performances and presentations, a special opportunity to support the organization, and the chance to meet and mingle with Philadelphia Futures’ scholars.
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Philadelphia Futures held A Night with Our Scholars at University of Pennsylvania’s Van Pelt – Dietrich Library in the Kisklak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts.
Hosted by Philadelphia Futures’ scholars, guests of the evening met students during the reception and learned about their journeys with Philadelphia Futures.
Philadelphia Futures Class of 2014 alumnus and Class of 2018 Lafayette College graduate, Chris Felix, spoke to his journey to college and career success through Philadelphia Futures. He said, “Because of the love and support of Philadelphia Futures, this shy inner-city kid turned into the proud young man you see before you, ready to take on the world and pay the dividends that Futures gave to me forward to my peers.”
In addition, attendees were encouraged to take advantage of the “Library of Dreams” opportunity and make a direct contribution to support impactful, intensive, and transformative services provided by Philadelphia Futures that change the students’ lives, including SAT preparation, literacy initiatives, college trips, Career Futures Initiative, the “Right Stuff” for college, and clubs and activities.
A special thanks to the University of Pennsylvania’s Van Pelt – Dietrich’s Library Center for donating the space for the evening. For more information about the event, please contact Bonnie Dugan at 215-790-1666 ext. 422 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
