Philadelphia Futures Announces Fourteenth College Partnership with Saint Joseph’s University

Philadelphia Futures is proud to announce their fourteenth college partnership with Saint Joseph’s University. Through this partnership, Saint Joseph’s University will reserve three full-need financial aid packages for Philadelphia Futures graduates who are admitted to the University and have demonstrated strong academic achievement. Ongoing support and guidance from both organizations will support students during the admissions process and throughout their undergraduate academic experience. 

“Increasing college access for talented, diverse students in the greater Philadelphia area is a strategic priority of the University and our partnership with Philadelphia Futures is an important step in that direction,” said Dr. Nicole Stokes, Ph.D., associate provost for diversity, equity and inclusion at Saint Joseph’s University. “Having Philadelphia Futures graduates at Saint Joseph’s University will enrich the overall university experience for all of our students.” 

Philadelphia Futures supports low-income, first-generation-to-college students with the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary for admission to and success in college. The students Philadelphia Futures serves are provided with a comprehensive, time-tested array of programs designed to reduce the institutional, academic, social, and financial barriers to college success. By partnering with Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia Futures’ students have an additional college option in the Philadelphia area that offers significant on-campus resources, an impressive liberal arts core, and better financial outcomes for students.

Philadelphia Futures envisions a city where every student has what they need to succeed in college and thrive in life. Through two direct-service programs – Sponsor-A-Scholar and College Connection – Philadelphia Futures serves nearly 600 high school and college students with academic enrichment, personalized college guidance, placement and retention services, career development, and financial resources. Students in the Philadelphia Futures programs continue with the organization until college graduation and beyond. 

Philadelphia Futures’ programs have produced extraordinary results for more than 30 years, with 100% of the Class of 2021 students accepted to college. The projected college graduation rate for the Class of 2016 is 80% and 99% of the Class of 2019 returned to college for their sophomore year. Additionally, 90% of the Class of 2019 were employed full-time or enrolled in graduate school by December 2019.
