Philadelphia Futures Hosts Its First Ever Virtual College Fair
PHILADELPHIA (December, 2021) – Philadelphia Futures was honored to host its first ever Virtual College Fair on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
Students and those in attendance had the opportunity to hear from Keynote Speaker Gilberto Gonzalez, a Congressional candidate representing the Kensington district. Students were also able to check out a wide variety of colleges and universities, including Philadelphia Futures’ partner colleges: Albright College, Arcadia University, Dickinson College, Drexel University, Franklin & Marshall College, Gettysburg College, Haverford College, Juniata College, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Penn State University, Saint Joseph’s University, Temple University, and Villanova University. They chatted with college representatives and learned more about the college application and admission process. Other colleges in attendance included: Bates College, Bloomsburg University, Brandeis University, Bryn Mawr College, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia University, Elizabethtown College, Endicott College, Hampshire College, Hobart and William Smith College, Holy Family University, Immaculata University, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Kenyon College, La Salle University, Lincoln University, Lycoming College, Marist College, Messiah University, Moore College of Art and Design, Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Rider University, Rowan University, Sarah Lawrence College, Shippensburg University, Union College, University of Connecticut, University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design, University of Virginia, and Williams College.
Philadelphia Futures was thrilled to have participation from counselors, teachers, and staff from their partners: Steppingstone Scholars, Ellis Trust for Girls, Lincoln High School, Northeast High School, Kensington Health Sciences, Kensington High School, and Kensington CAPA.
The virtual college fair was made possible thanks to the Visit Days platform. Over 90 interactive sessions were offered for participants to engage in and both students and their parents and guardians tuned in. For some students, this was their first experience interacting with college representatives and It was exciting to be able to provide them with direct access to institutions across the country in small, intimate settings.
